"…to the praise of the glory of His grace…" Ephesians 1:6

December 2014 Missions Update – Sveta Gusieva

Dear Friends and Family,

I would like to introduce you to the team at the Active Rehabilitation Center (ARC), which was opened by people from Fimiam Church in 2007. We have six members of our rehabilitation team: Sveta, Alla, Vadim, Ira, Carrie and Katya. I am the director of the center and also work as a physical therapist.

ARC Team

Alla is also a physical therapist. She studied in Ukraine and received training at our center. She is hardworking and has a lot of energy. Alla works with children and adults. All of the children love her very much. She is getting married this spring
and we are happy for her.

Vadim is the only male therapist on our team. His background is massage and manual therapy. He also had a short course in physical therapy in Lviv and has had practical training at the center. Vadim is a former drug addict who dedicated his life to Christ and to serving people with disabilities. He is married and has four sons who all look just like him.

Ira is a physical therapist assistant who received her training at our center. She helps the other therapists with their patients and treats some patients herself. She has a background in psychology.

Carrie rejoined our team this year and has invested much by organizing seminars and practical training. Currently she is focused on studying the Ukrainian language and preparing a school for physical therapists in Ukraine in order to help spread the ministry to people with disabilities in Ukraine.

Katya studied to be a nurse and worked in the cardiac surgery department before joining our team. She also received her physical therapy training at our center and works with both children and adults. She got married last year.

Our therapists are busy treating children and adults with various diagnoses five days a week. The leaders of our ministry find financial support for each member of our team. During the summer, we are all involved in the camps for children and adults with disabilities in various roles.

It is very difficult to find rehabilitation services in Ukraine and we are happy to make a difference in lives of people in our city. We are grateful to God for calling us to serve Him and people with disabilities. We see both physical and spiritual fruit in our patients and we treasure the ministry with which God entrusted us. Some of the patients who come to our center later repent and become active members of our church. In Christ, people find hope and the meaning of life and they come out of the depression of being bound to a bed or a wheelchair. Many people with disabilities have now been baptized and serve the church body with their gifts and talents. Praise God for His beautiful work in the hearts of people.

Prayer requests:
– New people to join our rehabilitation team
– Children’s equipment for the center
– Seminars and other continuing education for our therapists
