"…to the praise of the glory of His grace…" Ephesians 1:6

The Butler Way

A good friend of mine sent me the following statements which summarize “THE BUTLER WAY” of doing things in regards to their basketball program. As I read them I thought they went way beyond good coaching tips for a team but were great advice for a family, a church, or a life!

The Butler Way is composed of:

Humility…know who we are and what your role is
Passion…do not be lukewarm, commit to excellence
Unity…united we stand, divided we fall – team first
Servanthood…make teammates better, lead by giving
Thankfulness…learn from every situation

Humility… Philippians 2:3.5 “Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves…Have this mind in yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus.”
Passion…Revelation 3:15-16 “Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.” Romans 12:11 “Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.”
Unity…Ephesians 4:1-3 “I…urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called…eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Servanthood…Matthew 20:26-27 “Whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Thankfulness…1 Thessalonians 5:18 “…give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
