I hope you are already planning on coming to the Mission Conference this weekend (see schedule here). Let’s learn together better ways to live out the gospel in our city!
- What does the Bible say about ministry to the poor?
- What is God’s heart towards the needy?
- How do I interact with people from different backgrounds through the awkwardness?
- What if someone asks me for money? How should I respond? How do I know I am not aiding their addiction?
- How do I help kids whose parents aren’t following the Lord without undercutting the authority and love of the parents?
- What drives the race issues in our city? Are they just an excuse or genuine? What can I do about it?
- What is Springs of Grace doing currently in ministry to the homeless? What are ways I can support what is already going on? Is there any long range ministry plans to help people transition from homelessness?
- What is the heart behind the One Hope Academy?
- Isn’t it dangerous for a Christian parent to raise their children in an inner city church environment? What about the negative influences? What if your child develops friendships with children who are from unchurched families or are from significantly different cultures?
- How do I minister to someone who seems to have a mental illness?
- What happens in the after school tutoring program called getAHEAD? Is it available to any child or just ones from certain schools? What can of training is required for volunteers? What do we do to be above reproach in protecting our students from abuse?
- What is Springs of Grace doing in relationship to sex trafficking in our city? Is that an area where anyone else can get involved or do you need certain training first?
- Which is more important – building a friendship, meeting an immediate need or sharing the gospel with someone coming out of prison, or out of homelessness, or a new guest to our church you know nothing about?
We will get a chance to think about all of these issues this weekend, study God’s Word together, pray for our city and encourage one another in the Lord. If you haven’t registered, it would help our planning to know you are coming. You can register here: http://urbanministrytulsa.com/register/ – Regardless – we want you to come and invite others to join you.
Don’t miss it!
– Joe
