Giving to the Poor – Robert Murray McCheyne

in the 1830s in Scotland, Robert Murray McCheyne preached on the text, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” The following is from that sermon.
Now, dear Christians, some of you pray night and day to be made branches of the True Vine; you pray to be made all over in the image of Christ. If so, you must be like him in giving.” “Though he was rich, yet for our sakes he became poor …”

One Hope Ministry: Thoughts on Interning

What can I say about this summer? Well, from the previous year of volunteering at FCA Project 61, and then Project 61 later that year, I had a strong feeling that I should return. I met a lot of fantastic people that were either members of Springs of Grace, interns, and even campers. Such joy…

That Incredible Christian

A.W. Tozer has an excellent article titled “That incredible Christian”. It is below in its entirety.

I was reminded of it as I studied this week Mark 4:21-34 and particularly verses 24-25. “And he said to them, “Pay attention to what you hear: with the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to you. For to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.”

What Jesus means is, “The measure with which you measure to others will be measured to you.” Which means – the people who give the most have the most. The more you give, the more you will have. The way to fullness is to empty yourself. Verse 25, on the other hand, is saying, “Givers have more and more to give. Graspers, keepers, will have less and less to hold onto.” Giving, emptying yourself, is the way to fullness.
